Office of General Counsel
Policy Counsel provides advice and support for the policy-making function of
Law Society where it deals with relatively straightforward and routine issues,
working on policy matters that arise chiefly from the operations of the Law Society.
Policy Counsel has in-depth understanding of developments, emerging issues and
trends in the regulation of legal and other professions, Policy Counsel draws on
this understanding to advise and support policy-making, working primarily with
standing committees of Convocation.
You possess an LL.B. or J.D., plus a licence with the Law Society of Upper Canada,
and are entitled to practise law in Ontario. You have a minimum of 7 years’
experience working for a professional governing body, government, legal
organization or in legal practice or similar professional setting. You have a proven
ability to research and analyze legal and policy issues. You have superior oral and
in written communication skills.
