We now have an exciting opportunity in a newly created role for a lawyer to provide support
in all aspects of the legal function including direct and fund investment transactions, fund
and client mandate formation, employment, regulatory, litigation, corporate governance,
fund-level compliance and risk management as well as overseeing the firm’s securities
compliance programs in Canada and the US.
Preferred candidates will have 4-8 years of extensive corporate transactional experience in
the general areas of private market investing, M&A and fund formation. Experience in
infrastructure, private equity and corporate finance is preferred. Strong knowledge of the
application of securities regulations in Canada and the U.S. is preferred. Major law firm
training is required.

The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the heart of Ontario’s power system.
The IESO delivers key services across the electricity sector including: managing the power system in
real-�me, planning for the province’s future energy needs, enabling conserva�on and designing a
more efficient electricity marketplace to support sector evolu�on.
The IESO requires three new Counsel to support its legal team: 1 permanent Counsel II, 1 temporary
Counsel II and 1 temporary Counsel I. Temporary posi�ons will be two year contracts. The successful
Counsel II applicants will have a minimum 4 years of experience, and the successful Counsel I
applicant will have a minimum 1 year experience, in each case gained in top �er law rms or fast
paced in-house environments.
In-house counsel will provide legal services on a range of ma�ers suppor�ng IESO’s opera�ons
• a variety of contract management, procurement and program implementa�on issues
• IESO market opera�ons including interpreta�on, administra�on and development of Market
Rules and related ma�ers
• disputes that may arise under or in rela�on to Market Rules, programs, procurements, or
• suppor�ng the opera�ons of the IESO including procurements of goods and services, non-
disclosure agreements, intellectual property, privacy (including Freedom of Informa�on access
requests) and records management, and
• legal research
• experience in electricity or energy law would be considered an asset.
