Strategic Policy Counsel
Strategic Policy Counsel provides advice and support for the policy-making
function of the Law Society where it tackles issues that require creative,
proactive and strategic approaches. Strategic Policy Counsel has in-depth
understanding of issues and trends in the regulation of legal and other
professions and in the provision of legal services and practice of law. Drawing
on this understanding, Strategic Policy Counsel takes on policy challenges
confronting the Law Society.
You possess an LL.B. or J.D., plus a licence with the Law Society of Ontario,
and are entitled to practise law in Ontario. You have a minimum of 10 years’
experience working for a professional governing body, government, legal
organization or in legal practice or similar professional setting, with at least 5
years’ experience providing strategic policy advice. You have a proven ability
to research and analyze complex legal and policy issues and have superior
oral and written communication skills. You are able to assess challenges from
multiple and different perspectives, to think big and differently and to craft
