The Legal department is involved in a wide range of matters. As a Trademark Specialist,
reporting to the Director, IP Compliance, you will provide legal and strategic support
to our various business groups, including our enterprise-wide Brands and Marketing
teams, our Retail Store Operations, and our Pharmacy, Apparel, Loyalty, Digital and
Financial Services business teams. In addition, you will manage the company-wide
trademark prosecution and opposition portfolios and liaise with external counsel on
these matters. Further, you will provide IP support to our in-house legal team and
guidance to the Law Clerks and Legal Assistants, to provide those roles with learning
and development opportunities. The successful candidate will provide sound, practical
advice, using strong judgment in a fast-paced business environment.
This individual will have the opportunity to split time between Loblaw’s head office in
Brampton as well as offices in North York and Liberty Village. The successful candidate
must be a self-starter and have relevant experience in Canadian, American and

• A self- starter and team player with a professional manner;
• 5 years of relevant trademark experience;
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while balancing different priorities;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
• Registered Canadian Trademark Agent with CIPO preferred;
• In-house experience preferred.
