REGULATORY COUNSEL (MARKHAM)
(5-7 Years Experience)
Would you like to be part of a small legal team at a fast-growing technology company?
Are you interested in helping connect people to what matters? Are you excited by the
prospect of making a real impact on the trajectory of a mission-driven company? Our
client, Xplornet Communications Inc., is looking for a Regulatory Counsel!
Xplornet is one of Canada’s leading broadband service providers, with customers and
dealers in every province and territory. By focusing on the customer, Xplornet has gone
from a Canadian start up in 2004 to a major player in Canadian telecom. Every day, over
900 Xplornet employees across Canada work to connect rural Canadians to what matters.
Using its unique wireless and satellite network to offer Internet access and home phone
services, Xplornet continues to execute its growth strategy and is poised to launch a new
mobile experience in Manitoba.
Xplornet’s legal department supports its growing business groups. Located in Markham,
Ontario and reporting to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, the Regulatory
Counsel will play an integral part of the legal team, preparing CRTC applications
and submissions, monitoring and advising on policies, proceedings and legislative
developments, insuring licence renewals, and interacting with and appearing before
regulatory bodies. The Regulatory Counsel will work closely with the Vice President,
Public Affairs and Communications in developing and implementing the strategic plan
to achieve Xplornet’s goals.
The ideal candidate will have between 5-7 years of regulatory experience gained at a
major firm or corporation. Excellent drafting skills plus an ability to think logically and to
navigate operational challenges will be a must. Empathy for the customer is required. Any
commercial, technology or telecommunications regulatory experience will be seen as an
asset. Although not a requirement, French language proficiency would be an asset. You will
need to be confident, assertive and persuasive as you will be representing the organization in
a number of capacities, in addition to working directly with the business groups.
This is an exceptional opportunity with a growing, exciting, private Canadian company
as it continues to expand. The environment is dynamic and professional, and the culture
is energetic and friendly. It offers an attractive compensation package, diverse work and
growth opportunities. If you are interested in applying for this opportunity, please forward
your cover letter and resume to Lorene Nagata or Lesa Ong of NagataCONNEX Executive
Legal Search.
As this is an exclusive campaign with NagataConnex Executive Legal Search,
any resumes received from other sources will be forwarded to them.
