Counsel, Licensing & Accreditation
(1 year contract)
The Counsel, Licensing & Accreditation is responsible for developing standards
and content to support the Law Society’s licensing and program accreditation
processes. Counsel creates modules and examination questions to assess entry-level competence of lawyers and paralegals. In addition, Counsel contributes
expertise in credentialing and practice management matters to the program
accreditation process and Certified Specialist Program. Counsel also provides
support to paralegal education accreditation activities and facilitates instruction
on training and education programs, as required.
You possess an LL.B. or J.D., plus a licence with the Law Society of Ontario,
and are entitled to practise law in Ontario. You must have demonstrated a
commitment to the profession through membership in one or more of the major
law or legal associations, legal writing, volunteer activities, teaching, or another
relevant activity. You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience either practising
law or working in the area of professional development. You possess an excellent
grasp of designing, delivering, and evaluating defensible licensing systems and
processes, and working knowledge of program design processes, publications
production, and principles of, and best practices related to, adult learning and
