lx ONTARIO REPORTS OCTOBER 12, 2018
4 King St. W., Suite 1060
Toronto, Ontario M5H 1B6
For more than 60 years, Canadian Premier Life Insurance Company (CPL) has been
committed to providing financial security to Canadians and their families. Providing a
wide range of innovative products in life, sickness, accident and credit insurance, CPL
proudly insures over 1 million Canadians and families coast-to-coast. CPL is a
Canadian affiliate of Securian Financial Group which is among the leaders in the U.S.
insurance market and provides services to nearly 4,000 financial institutions.
CPL is seeking a Junior Corporate/Commercial Lawyer to join its north Toronto
office. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer and working as a member of a small and
collegial team, you will advise on both day to day legal and compliance issues and be
involved in the strategic growth of this financial services company. The successful
candidate will work across several business lines and gain exposure to a wide variety
of work including: drafting and negotiating commercial agreements; advising on
insurance regulatory requirements, privacy and general compliance; supporting
corporate acquisitions, dispositions and strategic transactions; providing general
corporate legal support; and advising on special projects as they arise.
The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of general corporate/commercial
experience gained from a reputable law firm or an in-house law department. Although
prior experience within the financial services and/or insurance industry would be
considered an asset, it is not a requirement for this role. CPL is seeking a self-starter
with excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach to practice. This is a
great opportunity for a junior lawyer to build their career with a leading financial
services company that offers a balanced work environment.
If you have the requisite skill set, please apply in complete confidence to Danya Cohen
(a Canadian qualified lawyer) at RainMaker Group.
As this is an exclusive assignment with RainMaker Group, any resumes sent directly
to Canadian Premier Life Insurance Company will be re-directed to RainMaker Group.
