DIRECTOR OF LEGAL AFFAIRS, OTTAWA
(2-4 Years Regulatory Experience)
Music Canada is a trade association representing the interests of Canadian
member companies that manufacture, produce, promote and distribute music. The
association represents all aspects of the industry on a national basis and believes in
the philosophy of a strong, healthy and united recording industry in Canada.
Music Canada is now seeking a Director of Legal Affairs, Ottawa, to join its team.
Working closely with the Director of Regulatory Affairs, the responsibilities
of the Director of Legal Affairs, Ottawa, include providing legal analysis and
recommendations to the Music Canada team, identifying and drafting statutory and
regulatory reforms and amendments, meeting with bureaucrats and government
officials as representative of Music Canada, and participating in the implementation
of the association’s strategic plan to achieve its goals and objectives. This position
will be based in the Ottawa office and will report to the General Counsel (who is
located in Toronto).
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of regulatory experience
gained in a major law firm or corporation. In addition, any IP (copyright) or policy
analyst experience will be seen as an asset. You will have strong analytical, drafting
and organization skills, as well as excellent communication skills. Although not a
requirement, French language proficiency would be an asset.
