By-Law Administration Services
The Assistant Manager, By-Law Administration Services (BAS) ensures the
timely administration of (and compliance with) licensee obligations mandated
under the Law Society Act, by-laws, and rules, including certain licensing
applications (surrender of licence, exemptions for age 65 or illness, professional
corporation names & certificates of authorization) and reporting obligations. The
Assistant Manager, BAS oversees all monthly administrative suspensions and
conducts due diligence for Law Society filing suspensions, supervises and acts as
a legal a resource for the department’s law clerks, and ensures best practises for
customer service are met. The Assistant Manager, BAS is also responsible for the
development and testing of Lawyer and Paralegal Annual Reports in conjunction
with the Manager, BAS and the Senior Manager, Client Service Centre.
The Assistant Manager, BAS must possess an LLB or JD, plus membership in
good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. You have a minimum of 7 to 10
years of legal experience, preferably in an regulatory environment. You possess
substantive knowledge with respect to administrative law and other areas of
practice. Up to 5 years of experience should be in a leadership role, providing
guidance and mentorship, and contributing to human resources decisions
regarding professional and support staff.
